Well, almost a sleeve. I've got close to 16 inches on the first sleeve for Mariah. I'm a bit nervous though...the sleeve increases say to continue in pattern, and I took that to mean once enough stitches, put another cable. I've looked at other Mariah's and their sleeves are plain. Obviously you can't see the underside of the arm in the picture, but am I making too much work for myself? Why do I even ask? I'm going to leave as is; I'm not frogging back 10 inches. Pics to come tonight/tomorrow when I have them.
Looking forward to my yarn shopping trip to Flying Fingers on their yarn bus. My mom, sister and I have a date with the bus on the 19th. I hope I can control myself...their Blue Sky Alpaca is on sale til the 20th. Mmmmm...Blue Sky Alpaca.
I have neglected the second Stripey Sock. The poor thing calls to me, but I'm deaf to its cries because of Mariah. Mariah's cries to be worked on are much louder. Poor Stripey Sock. Will have to give it some love this weekend.

Cry
Can I just say how sad I am? I cast on Sunday evening for Mariah, did the cuff and put it down to work on the train to work. Worked til I had roughly 7 or 8 inches of the sleeve. Cables looked great. Took day off today and was super psyched to have a whole day to knit. Picked up where I left off and at about 13 inches, looked at the work and was amazed at the cables. But noticed it looked kinda small. I know I was on gauge, but I measured anyway. Measurements off. Looked at the pattern, and that's when I noticed. I didn't do any increases, starting at about 6 inches. And since the cables are slightly complex, I couldn't rip back to 6 inches with ease. I ripped out the entire thing. Even hubby sympathized with me over the phone. It hurts. The cuff is knit again and I'm not psyched anymore to knit this sweater. :(

What I've been up to
I think the no knitting bug has hit me. I want to knit, but I don't want to knit. But I think I'm slowly coming back. I've been working on a super secret project for my Secret Pal. I've completed the project and have pics, but alas, it's secret, so no pics til later.
I do have pics to show you of the yummy Lorna's Laces socks I started. I saw the new colors on Rob's blog, and I needed to have them. He sent them out ASAP and this is what I've come up with:

Aren't the stripes just wonderful? I am so in love with the stripes, my first attempt at striped socks in fact, that I plan on seeing if Lorna's Laces has different shades of green to make striped socks in the same colors as Steve's shirt from Blue's Clues. Hubby thinks I have a problem, and well, I think I do too. :)
Next I succumbed to the trend of Kool Aid dyeing. This:
mixed with a package of Mango Kool Aid and a package of Pineapple Kool Aid, turned into this:
It's not all even in color, but I like it and am planning on going back to the store for more Kool Aid for the other skein of yarn I got from Knit Picks. Hubby thinks I should make a over the shoulder bag from the dyed yarn....what do you think? I don't really have any thoughts on what to make from my pineapple-smelling yarn.
I have 20 balls of
that I was going to design a sweater from, but I scrapped that project. I am now going to try and get gauge for Mariah with it and hopefully have a new sweater soon.
I also signed up for the Advanced Handknitter's Level I program from TKGA. I'm hoping it will make me a better knitter and help me learn and understand stitches more. So, I may not have been a busy knitter, I have been busy. :) Til next time.

Photos!
So I finally got the computer/camera working. So here are photos of what I've been up to.
The baby blanket:
A scarf I'm making my grandmother for Chinese New Year (tomorrow, year of the Rooster!):
A hat I crocheted out of leftover Koigu KPPPM from my mom's Charlotte, modeled by my oh so cute son:
And photos of my first package from the Knitty Coffeeshop SP III:
The yarn is Jaeger Como in a pale pink/purple and Gedifra Ombretta, also in a pinky purple. Both are gorgeous and calling to be knit. :)
Coming soon, pics of a sweater I'm knitting for myself, my own design. :)

A little of this, a little of that
FL was great! Nice warm sun, a balcony to sit and knit on. Some alcohol and dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly. A slight delay coming home, due to the snowstorm NY had, but all was good.
Did manage to go to a yarn shop while there. Knit n Knibble was a cute little shop. Picked up some stuff for me and for my new secret pal. Of course you know the rule I was using, one for her, one for me. :) We both lucked out.
Did a lot of work on the baby blanket while at the airports/flying. Need to do 3 more stripes and then I get into the intarsia. I've got a question on that. I'm doing the blanket in Cotton Classic II, and the orange that I need for the duck's bill is on back order for a month or so. I managed to get a hold of a shop locally that had some and I bought the one skein that I needed. She wound it for me and it was only when I got home that I noticed that it was just Cotton Classic, not Cotton Classic II, which is a slightly different gauge yarn. Do I go ahead with the orange I have or wait til my backordered yarn comes in? I've got plenty of time to finish up the blanket, but I want to get it done so I can move onto other projects.
I'm about a day or so away from finishing 2 pairs of broad street mittens for a friend. She paid me to make them for her. I've just got the mitten top pieces of the second pair and then the slight sewing to do on the first. She should have them by early next week.
I swatched for a new sweater. I'm venturing into design/creating my own pattern. I love the way the swatch came out. Now I've got to get stitches onto the needles to actually do the sweater. And I need time to do that and no other projects to occupy my precious time. Somehow I doubt that the sweater will be done in time to wear this winter. I don't remember the name of the yarn, but it's a merino wool in a gorgeous chocolate color.
I do have pics of the baby blanket thus far, but they'll have to wait...the computer is on the fritz and I'm blogging from work (shhh!!). :)
